Being Present in a Relationship

Submitted by Hiram on Saturday, 16 August 2008No Comment

In this video, popular author Eckhart Tolle discusses the importance of being present in a relationship.

What does he mean - be present?  Of course I’m present.  I’m physically there, right?

Well, there’s more to it than that.  Being present means being there, right there and no where else.  It means not thinking about work, or the weekend, or what’s on TV.  If you’re talking to someone you care about, it means listening not only to their words, but also how they’re saying it, how their lips move, how their body is positioned, taking it all in.

When you listen to someone with your entire being, you REALLY hear what they’re saying.  THAT’s being present.

Can you even imagine what a change this would bring to your relationships?  Can you picture it?  Can you think how it would make you feel if someone gave YOU their full attention?

Take a look at the video.  It’s only 7 minutes long.  You’ll be glad you did.
