Workout Accessories
Many people complete their workout outfits with accessories such as portable radios, MP3 players, heart monitors, stop watches, weight lifting gloves and belts, and so on. This is a great way to pass the time while exercising or to monitor your progress. However, there are a couple of things you need to watch out for.
These include:
- Make sure the cords, cables, or earphones are secured so that they don't get caught on anything.
- For items with earphones, keep the volume low enough that you can hear what's going on around you. If people are yelling at you because you're about to walk into a hole or because the gym is on fire, you definitely want to hear it.
- For strength training, bodybuilding or weightlifting gloves are a good idea in order to prevent you from getting sore hands and/or calluses. However, this is very much a personal choice.
- Unless you're doing some serious body building, a weightlifter's belt is probably not necessary. A belt can sometimes do more harm than good so make sure you talk to a fitness trainer if you feel you need one.
In all cases, workout accessories should help improve your workout. Be cautious however, of any accessory that may potentially create a safety hazard by getting caught on anything or by restricting your movement.
